Shipping Policy

Our standard live fish processing time ranges from 5 to 7 business days, subject to weather conditions in our area and the destination of the customer.

Free Shipping on non-live fish orders over $75 or more automatically applies at checkout and excludes bulky items and glass products. This offer is applicable for USA customers only.

Free Shipping on live fish orders over $300 or more automatically applies at checkout, exclusively for USA customers.

For bulky items and products containing glass, due to logistical complexities and insurance requirements, shipping charges apply. However, this policy may change in the near future.

Shipping Schedule

We ship all customer orders from our warehouse located in Springfield, VA. Shipping days are determined based on the type of order, with the exception of certain days when live fish shipments are not possible.

  • All Orders: will be shipped out from Monday to Thursday each week for overnight shipping by UPS.

  • Sunday (Splashy Day): No shipping; a day for our team and fish to destress.

After receiving your order, we require 24 to 48 hours for quality assurance before shipment. Live fish and plant shipments typically have a handling time of 1 to 9 business days, while other products are shipped daily.

Shipping Service

We exclusively ship all Live Fish orders with UPS due to USPS's consistent delays and missed deliveries, which can result in higher Dead on Arrival (DOA) rates.

We offer a variety of shipping services, including UPS and USPS. UPS Next Day Air, UPS Next Day Air Saver, and UPS 2nd Day Air are available for live fish orders, ensuring expedited delivery.

UPS Next Day Air, UPS Next Day Air Saver, UPS 2nd Day Air is a description of the shipping time and service provided by UPS. We cannot ship orders containing live fish orders to PO Box.

  • UPS Next Day Air, UPS Next Day Air Saver, is an overnight service shipped to all addresses in US Continental. This is not including the processing time once the order is placed. 
  • UPS 2nd Day Air is a 2-day shipping service available for any customer who would like to upgrade to get our free shipping service order to arrive faster. 

Shipping Rate

Shipping rates are calculated based on shipping services, total weight, box size, and distance traveled. All rates are automatically calculated at checkout.

Extreme Weather Shipping Advisory

For the safety of our live animals and plants, we may proactively delay shipments if temperatures fall below 40°F or exceed 90°F. We reserve the right to suspend shipping during extreme weather conditions to protect the well-being of our cargo.

Restricted/ Limited / Additional Shipping Service

  • Hawaii: We do not currently ship live animals to Hawaii due to government restrictions. However, wholesale orders and pet stores in Hawaii can arrange weekly shipments via airport.
  • Puerto Rico: All orders to Puerto Rico are shipped via UPS One Day Shipping International Service.
  • Alaska: We ship to Alaska during summer months only due to unpredictable winter weather conditions.
  • PO Box: Live animals or plants cannot be shipped to PO Boxes via UPS.
  • Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, and North Carolina: Live fish orders are eligible for UPS Ground and UPS Next Day Air Services.

Halfmoon Betta Customers

We do not ship damaged fish without prior consultation with our customers. We are not liable for tail biting that may occur during shipping due to stress, as it is a common habit of Bettas.
