Native to the freshwater rivers and tributaries of Venezuela, the Venezuelan Cory is part of the Corydoras family (Corydoras aeneus), affectionately known as "corys." Unlike the common bronze cory, the Orange Venezuelan Cory Catfish boasts striking orange-red hues across its body, making it a standout addition to planted aquariums. These Cory catfish are also efficient scavengers, helping keep the substrate clean as they sift for leftover food.

The Orange Catfish grows to an adult size of 2.5–3 inches (6–7.5 cm), making it a compact choice for small and medium aquariums. Their coloration can range from bright orange-gold to deep reddish tones, with some variants known as Black Venezuelan Corydoras showcasing darker accents. Their peaceful schooling behavior and constant foraging bring life and activity to the lower levels of your aquarium.

Venezuelan Corydoras are gentle, social fish that thrive in groups of at least 6 or more. They are ideal for planted community aquariums and get along with small, non-aggressive tankmates such as Tetras, Rasboras, Guppies, and dwarf Cichlids. Their playful nature and endearing behavior make them one of the most enjoyable corys to keep.

At Splashy Fish tropical fish store, our Corydoras Venezuelanus for sale are raised with the utmost care. All our Corydoras species for sale are tank-bred and acclimated for home aquariums, ensuring robust health and vibrant colors. Corydoras Venezuelanus Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How long do Venezuelan Corys live?

Corydoras venezuelanus, also known as Venezuelan corydoras, typically live for 5 to 7 years in a well-maintained aquarium. With excellent care, including clean, stable water conditions, a nutritious diet, and being kept in a proper school, they can sometimes live even longer.

How often should I feed Venezuelanus Corydoras?

Feed Venezuelan corydoras small portions 1–2 times per day. These bottom-dwelling scavengers enjoy sinking pellets, algae wafers, and occasional live or frozen foods such as bloodworms or brine shrimp. Providing a varied diet ensures your orange Venezuelan corys remain active, colorful, and healthy. Avoid overfeeding, as uneaten food can pollute the substrate.

Are Venezuelan Corys rare?

Yes, Venezuelan corydoras are considered relatively rare compared to more common cory species like bronze or peppered corys. The orange Venezuelan corydoras and black Venezuelan corydoras variants are especially prized for their striking coloration and are sought after by aquarists who want a unique and vibrant schooling catfish for their aquarium.
