The OB Peacock Cichlid (Aulonocara Orangeblotch) is a vibrant hybrid African cichlid prized for its unique, blotchy coloration and bold personality. With unpredictable patterns in shades of orange, blue, red, and yellow, no two OB Peacocks look the same, making them a standout addition to any African cichlid aquarium. Males display more intense colors, especially during breeding, while females exhibit subtler, yet still striking, patterns.
Growing up to 6 inches, OB Peacocks thrive in 55+ gallon aquariums with hard, alkaline water (pH 7.8–8.6) and a temperature range of 76–82°F. They are semi-aggressive and do best with other similarly sized Lake Malawi cichlids. Provide rocky hiding spots and a high-protein, varied diet for optimal health and coloration. As mouthbrooders, they offer fascinating breeding behavior for experienced aquarists looking to expand their African cichlid collection.
