3 months ago I bought a 17gal tank and supplies from Splashy Fish with a plan to set up a betta tank. My heavily planted (low tech) tank with 15 Ember tetras and 8 Pygmy Corys has been ready for some time but I have been waiting for a Hellboy star tailed HMPK. 2 weeks ago the store let me know there was a new shipment and I live close enough to dive and check out the Plakats. My only complaint was that it was too hard to choose just one betta! I knew I wanted a Hellboy star tailed halfmoon but there were 5 beautiful specimens. The fish I purchased is a beautiful healthy betta that is settling into his new surroundings.
I ordered a snail, some shrimp, and a WYSIWYG Betta from Splashy. The shrimp and snail arrived without any issues and were in good condition.
However, I received an email stating that the Betta I selected was not healthy enough to ship. While disappointing, I understood (these things happen). Splashy offered the option to choose another Betta, but none of the available options interested me. I reached out multiple times (with follow-ups) to ask if I could instead receive an equivalent value in additional shrimp, but I did not receive a response either way.
Eventually, I received a notification that a Betta had been shipped. I’ve included photos comparing the Betta I originally ordered with the one I received. The Betta did arrive in good condition.
I’m giving 2 stars because the experience started off well, and I had no issues with the snail and shrimp. However, the lack of communication and the unexpected substitution with the Betta were frustrating.
I Love this store. Whenever Im in the area I stop in to see what they have in stock and almost always purchase.

Sold me $25 worth of mislabeled rocks I can't even use. They fizz like fanta when I dropped some vinegar on them. Second time I've had a bad experience with Splashy. Will not be giving them any more money in the future.
I love coming to Splashy Fish! The staff are consistently friendly and super helpful. Every staff member I’ve met actually knows their stuff and gives great advice on fish care. They stock really high quality fish food and supplies, and have a good selection of plants as well. You can tell they really care about the animals, and their fish are always healthy and in good condition. Definitely one of the best local fish stores in the area hands down.

Went into the Splashy store and left with more than I intended! It was incredibly stocked with THE most beautiful healthy dumbo guppies I’ve seen in the area. Got a few along with a bunch of neon green tetras that have all settled wonderfully into my tank! The shop associates were all so knowledgable and kind. Shout out to Allan who helped us out! He really knew his stuff! I’ve checked out quite a few local LFSes and this is the best by far. Already planning my next haul!
I’m a bettas lover. The fish that the large chain stores sell, almost always end up with a tumor or some other genetic problem. For me, I will only order from Splashy Fish. I want my bettas to be healthy and live a long life. I couldn’t be happier with my bettas from here.
My existing Betta fish expired after 2 years. I decided to investigate online stores. I was a bit apprehensive for many reasons. My biggest concern being, getting a healthy fish delivered to Wisconsin from long distance during winter months. I decided to give it a try. I ordered a Giant Betta (GB 48). It arrived on Feb. 2, 2024. There was a one day delay. I was a little nervous about a transit time of 2 days in cold temps. Splashy Fish Team was very supportive and assured me that they consider the distance & weather conditions when packing & shipping my fish. My fish was received in good condition. I followed all of protocol for acclimating my new Betta into the tank. So far, it seems to be going well. I am very pleased with the entire experience. I hope my Betta continues to stay healthy.
Genetics on these fish seemed very weak. I purchased 7 and they all died within 2 weeks. A proper quarantine in a cycled tank was done. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone! Plus the way they keep their bettas in the store is gut wrenching. Clearly, they’re profit driven and that’s about it. And to top it off the communication through out the purchase was awful! Didn’t let me know when my fish were gonna ship and took multiple days to even get an automated response.
I spent hours agonizing which male betta fish to order and I finally pulled the trigger. It was easy to scroll through the various options and the videos attached to each specimen was very helpful. The video helped me pick the five I chose. Thank you

I had almost given up on getting fresh water fish then I was lucky enough to have Splashy Fish open its new retail store close to my home. There is literally no place (that I could find) to get healthy freshwater fish then came Splashy. The shop is very clean and the tanks are filled with awesome, healthy fish. All the fish I have purchased are alive and well. Id give 10 stars if I could:)
First I want to say this shop has integrity! I initially ordered 2 betta for 2 tanks, but Mr. Nguyn called telling me one was not healthy and did not meet his standards to be shipped. His honesty says so much. My money was refunded and per my request the other betta was sent. She arrived carefully packaged, warm, and safe. She is absolutely beautiful and HEALTHY! She is very social, especially at feedings, and adjusted quickly to her new home with lots of plants, 2 cories, a nerhite snail, and a few pearl danios. I WILL be ordering from Splashy Fish again.
This is my second time at Splashy Fish. Nguyen the owner is very knowledgeable and nice and will answer any questions regarding fish keeping. He has a great selection of tropical fish including some I couldn’t find in stores and also loads of high quality healthy beta fish. Can’t recommend this store enough.
