Bio-adhesive supplement repairs and strengthens the fish’s natural slime coat which protects against bacterial and fungal infections Bactershield® is a revolutionary new way to help maintain fish optimum health. Proven, natural oils and extracts are combined with a patented film forming matrix to help repair and strengthen a fish’s natural slime coat and help provide a protective shield around your fish. A fish’s slime coat acts as the first line of defense for fish against bacterial and fungal infections. Active Ingredients: Chitosan, Cinnamon Oil, D-Limonene, Geranium Oil, Pine Oil, Rosemary Oil

Directions & Dosage

Shake well before dosing. Add 4 drops per gallon or 5 ml (1 tsp) per 25 gallons of water to be treated. 

For reef tanks and aquariums with invertebrates the dosage should be adjusted to two daily half treatments of two drops per gallon or 5 ml (1 tsp) per 50 gallons 12 hours apart. Treat every other day for a total of 6 treatments (2 treatments per day).

Day 1: Add 4 drops per gallon
Day 2: No medication or water changes needed
Day 3: Add 4 drops per gallon
Day 4: No medication or water changes needed
Day 5: Add 4 drops per gallon
Day 6: Perform a 25% water change if desired. Repeat this five-day treatment if symptoms improve, but have not completely disappeared. If no improvement has occurred, try our Maracyn® and/or Maracyn® Two treatments.

  • For best results, increase water temperature above 80 degrees F
  • Remove carbon during treatment, maintain adequate water flow or aeration
  • Bactershield® may cause excessive foam production in protein skimmers or tanks with airstones. Stop use of skimmer during treatment if excessive foaming is a concern.
  • UV Sterilizer can be used during treatment
  • Always complete a full course of treatment, even if symptoms improve or disappear before the fifth dose
  • No contraindications: can be used with all of our other products and meds
  • Safe for use with invertebrates, see special note below
  • Safe for use with plants
  • Do not perform water changes during the course of treatment. Bactershield® may inhibit nitrifying bacteria. If ammonia or nitrite is a concern, detoxify during treatment with Fritz A.C.C.R. or Fritz Complete
  • Overdosed? Perform a large water change if distress is observed

Special note on Bactershield®: During use some sessile invertebrates will retract for the first several hours. This condition will be temporary and may last for up to 24 hours. Tested on Stone Polyp, Brain Favites, Mushroom (Rhodactis), Ricordea sp., Favia Fragum, Plate Coral sp., Tubastraea sp., Knobby Leather sp., Acropora sp., Finger Coral (Porites) coral species. All corals and polyps may not react the same way as the test species.

Live Arrival Guarantee:

We have a lot of experience with shipping live fish orders. In 2021, Our records showed that we only have a 0.5 % Dead on Arrival rate for all live fish orders, compared to the industry standard is at 1.5%. This means that out of 1000 live orders that we shipped to our customer only 5 orders would have fish that arrived dead.

At Splashy Fish, we ensure that our customers are happy and satisfied with their orders. We offer a 100% Live Arrival Guarantee on all of our animals that are shipped to the customer via USPS, UPS, and FedEx.

Splashy Fish has the right to void Live Arrival Guarantee protection if these circumstances include: 

  1. The customer has chosen USPS First Class Mail as a shipped method. 
  2. Shipping address to a PO Box
  3. The order was refused delivery by the customer. 
  4. The order was held for pick up at USPS, UPS, FedEx offices no longer than 24 hours after the last update on the tracking number. 
  5. Live Arrival Guarantee claim does not include all the requirements mentioned below
  6. Live Arrival Guarantee claim made after the arrival period is mentioned below. 
  7. The Fish/Animal have to be in original packaging. 

Live Arrival Guarantee Claim Period: 

For Live Fish and other invertebrates: one and a half hours (1.5 hours) of posted delivery time or customer received time. 

For Snails48 hours of posted delivery time or customer received time. 

How to claim for Splashy Fish's Live Arrival Guarantee: 

If there is an incident when your fish are delivered "dead on arrival,” 

  1. Take 1 picture of the shipping box and the shipping label. 
  2. For live fish and other invertebrates: Take 2 pictures of each of the fish bags that is dead on arrival (the pictures have to show the bag in its original condition, unopened with the original rubber band)
For Snail: Snail generally take longer to acclimate, our customer will have 48 hours of posted delivery time to claim for Live Arrival Guarantee. Please place the snail at the one corner of the tank and within 48 hours and any snail didn't move. Please take pictures of the snail where the opening. 
  1. Send us an email to DOA@splashyfishstore.com with the subject line: DOA and Your Order Number OR messaged us on our social media
  2. Body of the text: Your tracking number
  3. The claim must be sent within the claim period mentioned above. 

After submitting all the information required above it will take us 1 to 3 business days to determine the cause of dead on arrival. If the claim was valid and approved by our team, Once We approved your claim, You will 

  1. Received the store credit for future purchase of the dead on arrival fish excluding the shipping cost. 

If the Live Arrival Guarantee claim doesn't include all the requirements listed above, Splashy Fish has all the rights to reject your claim.

 

 

We ship all of the customer orders from our warehouse located in Springfield, VA. We pack and ship our orders depending on the orders with the exception of someday we cannot ship out live fish.

All Live Fish orders will be shipped out on Tuesday and Wednesday each week for overnight shipping by UPS.

Monday to Saturday:  We will pack and ship out all orders that do not contain live fish. 

Sunday: (Splashy Day) Today is the day we let our hard-working team members and our fish to destress and ready for the following week's shipment.
