Lemon Tetra Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
How many Lemon Tetra should I keep together?
It’s best to keep Lemon Tetras in groups of at least 6–8 individuals. As true schooling fish, they feel safer, show brighter colors, and display natural swimming behaviors when kept in larger shoals. A bigger group also reduces stress and makes them more active and entertaining in the aquarium.
Can I keep Lemon Tetra with other Tetras?
Yes, Lemon Tetras can be kept with other Tetra species, such as Neon Tetras, Ember Tetras, Rummy Nose Tetras, and Glowlight Tetras. They are peaceful and community-friendly, making them excellent companions in planted tanks. Just ensure your aquarium is large enough to accommodate multiple schools comfortably.
What is the lifespan of Lemon Tetra?
The average Tetra lifespan for Lemon Tetras is 4–6 years in a well-maintained aquarium. With consistent water quality, a balanced diet of flakes, pellets, and frozen foods, and being kept in proper groups, they may live even longer and remain vibrant throughout their life.
