Benefit from our extensive experience in shipping live fish. In 2021, our records indicated a mere 0.5% dead-on-arrival (DOA) rate for all live fish orders, compared to the industry standard of 1.5%. These numbers translate to only 5 out of 1000 orders experiencing DOA fish.

At Splashy Fish, customer satisfaction is our priority. That's why we provide a 100% Live Arrival Guarantee on all animals shipped via USPS, UPS, or FedEx. Please note - Splashy Fish reserves the right to void Live Arrival Guarantee protection under the following circumstances:

  1. The customer has chosen USPS First Class Mail as a shipping method. 
  2. The shipping address is a PO Box address
  3. The order was refused delivery by the customer.
  4. If the order is returned to the sender for any reason. For instance, an incorrect shipping address, an undeliverable address, etc. 
  5. The order was held for pick up at USPS, UPS, and FedEx offices for longer than 24 hours after the last update on the tracking number. 
  6. The Live Arrival Guarantee claim does not include all the requirements mentioned below
  7. The Live Arrival Guarantee claim is made after the claim period mentioned below. 
  8. The animals are not in their original packaging

Live Arrival Guarantee Claim Period: 

For Live Fish and other invertebrates: one and a half hours (1.5 hours) after the posted delivery time. 

For Snails: 48 hours after the posted delivery time. 

 

Steps to claim Splashy Fish's Live Arrival Guarantee: 

  1. Take a picture of the shipping box and the shipping label. 
  2. For live fish and other invertebrates: Please provide two pictures of each bag (containing the dead fish) upon arrival. Ensure the images display the bag in its original, unopened condition with the original rubber band intact
  3. For Snails: Position the snail in one corner of the tank. If the snail does not move within 48 hours, please take several pictures of the snail's opening
  4. Send an email to DOA@splashyfishstore.com with the subject line: DOA and Your Order Number, or message us on social media.
  5. In the body of the email, include your tracking number.
  6. The claim must be sent within the claim period mentioned above.

After submitting the required information, please allow us 1-3 business days to determine the cause of the issue. If the claim is valid and approved by our team, you will

  • Receive a store credit for future purchases, excluding the shipping cost, of the dead-on-arrival fish 

If the Live Arrival Guarantee claim does not meet all listed requirements, Splashy Fish reserves the right to reject it. 

Shipping live animals and plants is a complex process, and temperature plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and secure delivery of your order.

If the highest daytime temperature in your location and the lowest nighttime temperature here in Springfield, Virginia—where our facility is situated—fall below 40°F or exceed 90°F, we will proactively delay your order. This measure is taken to prioritize the well-being of the animals and plants.

For the safety of our living cargo and to protect your investment, we retain the right to suspend shipping as necessary due to extreme weather conditions. Our Splashy Fish team will assess the situation and determine if it is unsuitable to ship, considering the safety of the animals.

Once our team prints and packs your order, we'll notify you via email. This notification will include your tracking number and the expected arrival day. If you opt for UPS 2 Day shipping, your package should arrive within 2 days after shipment. Similarly, if you choose UPS 1 Day, your order will reach you the day after it is shipped. In the case of orders containing only plants or dry goods, they may be shipped via USPS, provided that this is the selected shipping option during checkout.

We ship all of the customer orders from our warehouse located in Springfield, VA. We pack and ship our orders depending on the orders with the exception of someday we cannot ship out live fish.

All Live Fish orders will be shipped out on Tuesday and Wednesday each week for overnight shipping by UPS.

Monday to Saturday:  We will pack and ship out all orders that do not contain live fish. 

Sunday: (Splashy Day) Today is the day we let our hard-working team members and our fish to destress and ready for the following week's shipment.

Clarity™ is the ultimate clarifier for both fresh and saltwater. It employs an advanced polymeric flocculating agent that is both reef and plant safe. Clarity™ is the only clarifier on the market that does it all! Clarity™ will clear all types of clouding.

Many companies manufacture multiple products to clear up each type of cloudiness and each different environment (e.g. freshwater, marine, reef, etc.). Some companies have developed products that will clear most types of cloudiness, but their application requires two separate bottles of product. Clarity™ contains compounds that will clear all types of cloudiness in all environments.

Clarity™ contains both precipitating and flocculating agents in the same bottle, enabling all types of cloudiness to be removed in one dose.
Upon adding Clarity™ to the water, you will see a cloudy haze begin to form. This is normal and means that Clarity™ is beginning to work. The water is filled with tiny pieces of floating matter that were not visible to the naked eye. Clarity™ makes those pieces of matter begin to clump together. As they clump together they form larger pieces of matter that are now visible, hence the cloudiness. Once this matter has clumped together, it is a simple matter of mechanical filtration to remove the residue. Matter that was once too small to get caught in filter media is now in large enough clumps.

Directions
Use 1 capful (5 mL) for every 80 L (20 US gallons). In some situations the cloudiness may increase after adding Clarity™, however this is normal and is a sign that Clarity™ is actively working. Rapid clarification will follow (1–2 hours). In the case of chemical or particulate clouding clean filter floss or cartridge after tank clears.

FAQ
How often can you use Clarity?
A: Clarity™ can be added every 24 hours as needed, however, if your water has not cleared you may not have adequate mechanical filtration. We recommend using filter floss (poly-fil) in your filter when adding Clarity, as this is a very fine mechanical filter that will remove the undissolved particulates. It is completely normal for the water to become more cloudy on the addition of Clarity, as it is a flocculating agent that will clump together the particulates, making larger particulates that are easily filtered out with the filter floss. Keep in mind that you may have to change out the floss a couple of times during the treatment, as it may get clogged or saturated.

I added the correct amount of Clarity™ to my tank and the cloudiness got much worse. What is happening?
A: Clarity™ is a flocculant, meaning it bonds to small particles, making them much larger and easier to filter from the water. This will make the cloudiness worse for a short time until the large particles are removed from the water. Mechanical filtration is the only way to remove them, and if you don't have adequate mechanical filtration it will probably never clear. Typically, sponge filters are not fine enough to remove the larger particulate matter from the water. We recommend using Filter Floss in your filter and it may need to be changed several times before the water completely clears, as it will get saturated or become clogged.

Will the Clarity™ precipitate trace minerals and macro- and micro-nutrients that my fish and plants need to maintain rapid, healthy growth?
A: Clarity™ will only remove particulates not soluble nutrients. Clarity™ works as an aggressive flocculant and not as a precipitant. Clarity™ is generally used for cloudy water situations and it is great for all types of clouding.

I have floating particles (not algae) in the water that the filter will not catch. I wanted to know if your product "Clarity" will help.
A: Clarity™ can be used for all particulates. I would use a fine filtration floss in your filter system in conjunction with Clarity. Clarity™ actually makes the particulates larger, allowing for them to be filtered out of your system. Clarity™ is also safe to use in all aquarium systems, freshwater, reef, etc.

Is Clarity™ reef and plant safe?
A: Yes, when used as directed, Clarity™ is safe to use in planted and reef aquariums.

Q: My local water supply has very soft water. Will Clarity™ impact the pH of my water?
A: Since soft water tends to have low alkalinity and little buffering capacity, it is possible that adding certain products to a tank with soft water could cause the pH to drop. In most cases, this is not an issue, but with soft and already unbuffered/ lightly buffered water, it could cause a shift in pH. In systems with low buffering capacity or soft water, it is best to use a lower 1/4 to 1/2 dose of many additives and test the impact or outcome before using the full dosage.
